I started building a sidings/depot layout in OO during lockdown using materials I had in stock because track and turnouts suddenly became very scarce. My current OO Gauge layout (Westmoor Junction) has a fiddleyard at each end and less than half is scenic so much of my professionally weathered stock is not visible. Therefore, the main reason for this design was to have the majority of the stock on show and only a small fiddleyard. The fiddeyard still uses aluminum cassettes so still allows an exchange of stock off-scene.
The layout is essentially a set of exchange and storage sidings with a small MPD for exchanging locos and is not region specific. Initially, the intention was to run BR Blue however, I now have accumulated sufficient stock to run BR Green.
The layout is of lightweight construction using 4mm plywood baseboards, copperclad turnouts with SMP track, wired for DC or DCC and Cobalt slow acting turnout motors. The low relief buildings are from Scale Model Scenery with a few additions from Metcalfe and Gaugemaster.
