Staroleko Wielkopolski is a fictional station located on the main line between Berlin and the Polish capital of Warsaw.

The layout portrays a semi rural location on this main line during the 1990s when it was still possible to see steam locomotives at work, in addition to diesel and electric motive power.

Most of the locomotives featured are Polish types operated by the state railway Polskie Koleje Państwowe (PKP) although some German locomotives can also be seen powering cross border trains.

From the start of the new millenium PKP received large grants to renew infrastucture from the European Union but non of this investment is present on the layout. For example the masts carrying the overhead line equipment are of German pattern as would have been the case in the 1990s.

Staroleko is actually a suburb of Poznan whilst Wielkopolski (Greater Poland) is the region in which the layout is set.
