No 15 is in Purgatory

No 15 drifts out of the tunnel with a train of empties and a tanker of ‘potable water’. She’s heading back to the high ground and the forest as she passes through Purgatory Peak. She’s got quite a climb in front of her.

Orleans and Purgatory Peak

Thanks to Bruno who has videoed some of the layouts at the Orlean show.

It looks like a great show, Bruno loved Purgatory and the layout is “first on” in the video. Please enjoy.

Purgatory Peak at Orlean this weekend

Just a quick post. Another long weekend for the Purgatory Peak team as they are taking “the peak” to Orleans.

Good luck guys and have a great weekend in France!

Previously mentioned, the layout was suffering from what turned out to be electrical issue. This has been resolved and trains were running smoothly over the guilty section of track.

Hello and welcome!

Hi Welcome to Macclesfield Model Railway Groups Blog.  Here you will find articles, muses and news about our group or other related articles.

With regard to news, Purgatory Peak visited Folkestone Model Railway exhibition and although it would be fair to say we had some snags it was a resounding success with the “Peak” getting Best in show, as this was a public vote; so much the better! There are some things that the ON30 group has to fix before it is packed up again, as it is on its way to Orleans in November. On a personal note, thanks to the ON30 guys for the privilege of joining them for the weekend!  More on the Folkestone trip in Novembers newsletter.

The new “OO” layout is progressing steadily with a back scene nearly built and due to be painted.

Finally the October newsletter is out.  In this issue there is:

  • Building an ‘0’ Gauge Gantry Crane
  • Another Day Out – Llanfair Caereinion
  • Saddleworth Railway Viaduct
  • Boulder Valley Models 12
  • My Visit to Friends in Macclesfield (Part1)

Plus the usual extras.
