The layout is based on the LNWR practice in 1910.

It features a large viaduct, similar to the one at Broadbottom, near Glossop. The reference to arches is because, when the viaduct was originally built, it was constructed of wooden arches. The arches were later replaced with steel box sections – similar to the “Dinting Arches”

further down the line.

The track plan is of a double track main line with passing loops which enables us to display our collection of pre-grouping rolling stock from several companies during the Edwardian period when railways were at the peak of their reputation and prowess.

In addition to the viaduct, the scenery features many scratch-built buildings, including a re-purposed glass kiln now used as a fine casting facility and a “Wednesday” street market.
