OUR NEW 3D PRINTER

So, the Club’s 3D printer is up and running and it’s time to give it a test with something a bit bigger and more complex than a simple caricature boat!

On Monday evening we ‘loaded up’ with a 3D design for an 0n30 caboose, set everything in motion and watched for 14 hours whilst the printer did its ‘shake, rattle and roll’.

Though that would have been infinitely more interesting than watching a single episode of Emmerdale, we actually left the printer to ‘do its thing’ overnight!

I returned to the Club room on Tuesday to inspect the results which, overall, were quite impressive. Details were sharp and the quality of the print was very good ……. if you didn’t look at the roof of the caboose! We, obviously, need to do some ‘tweaking’!

We’ll make some adjustments and try again ….. it was, after all, a ‘pilot run’. I have no doubt that, in the not too distant future, there will be a new caboose added to Purgatory Peak’s roster!

I will keep you up to date.
